With DMI Training in Business Development and Financial Management
DEBCO operates the
DeKalb Microenterprise Institute (DMI), a comprehensive training program open to area residents who would like to start a business and/or who need assistance in expanding an existing business.
DMI is a member of the Georgia Micro Enterprise Network (GMEN), an industry association of organizations and individuals who provide support for the development of microenterprises in Georgia.
DMI Courses
DMI training is offered through the combined resources of our partners. You'll benefit from one-on-one coaching, mentoring and discussions with community and business leaders and guest lecturers who understand your challenges and opportunities.
The program provides training in these key business essentials:
- Seizing Business Opportunities
- Marketing and Promoting Your Business
- Understanding the Procurement Process
- Finding the Funding and Resources for Your Business
- Why Networking Matters and How to Ace It
- Using the Internet to Make Money
- How to Create Winning Presentations
Classes are held at
DeKalb Technical College 495 N. Indian Creek Rd. Clarkston, GA 30021.

Sessions run 6 or 12 weeks and classes are in the evening on Tuesdays and Thursdays or on Saturdays.
The courses include:
I. Entrepreneur Development and Business Assessment
- What does it take to be an entrepreneur?
- Understanding your business model
II. Financial Management and How to Apply It
- Conquering credit challenges
- Managing cash flow for a profitable business
III. Business Expansion
- Building a business plan for expansion
- Getting capital for expansion
